Authentic by definition is 'to be of undisputed origin.' Synonyms are genuine, real, bona fide and true. Are most people that we work with authentic in their presentation of themselves or do they pretend to be someone else? Many times we encounter people professionally that are not genuine. This can create a difficult communication dynamic. If we are spending time trying to figure out where someone is coming from or what their intentions are, then it is difficult to develop a rapport or see a vision. An aspect of admired leaders is an authenticity. Authentic leaders are able to communicate a vision that is accessible to others with the right intention that creates a bond of trust. The origin is undisputed. Authentic people gravitate to working together because there is an ease in the exchange and accomplishments come much faster. How can we support a more authentic working environment for each other?
