What is the single most important trait of a good leader?
Trustworthiness
Those who can successfully persuade others to trust them and show unquestionable evidence of trustworthiness.
Trustworthy leaders are more successful at collaboration and influence. They trust the process and allow others the courtesy of trust. They operate from a clear set of values and principles that creates a culture of integrity, honesty, consistency and transparency. Most importantly they have greater success at executing a vision because those they need to implement that vision have confidence in their leader.
Trusting and Trustworthiness. We too often talk about “trust” as if it were a singular thing; it’s not. Trust is a relationship established between a trustor and a trustee. It takes two to tango, and two to trust.
